A Native of Ireland, and a graduate of the Shannon College of Hotel Management, Richard has worked in our industry for well over 30 years, but maintains that he only got into the industry as a means of getting away from his Dads farm !!

Richard as held senior executive positions in three continents and General Manager positions in two. So far he has worked in Switzerland, The US, Scotland, Ireland and most recently has spent 9 years in the Middle East – Dubai initially and now the capital Abu Dhabi.

In his 9 years in the UAE he has held the positions of General manager of the JW Marriott Dubai, The Ritz Carlton Dubai and is now responsible for Marriott portfolio of hotels in Abu Dhabi with brands ranging from luxury to select. Next year will be his 20th with Marriott.

His passions are keeping fit, the guitar and trying to live his rugby dreams through his boys !!

He lives in Abu Dhabi with his wife Maggie ( who is also a successful hotelier) and their three young sons.
