Vice President Global Design Strategies
Marriott International
Aliya Khan, Vice President Global Design Strategies at Marriott International is an award-winning talent, and the driving force behind the disruptive design approach for Marriott’s Lifestyle portfolio. In her role, she works to define the foundational elements of Marriott’s distinctive brands, coloring each with a clear design personality and focus.
Aliya began her career in hospitality design almost two decades ago with the iconic W Hotels. She helped expand the once domestic boutique brand into a global experience. Aliya then oversaw design efforts for the original prototype for Aloft, a select service design-led brand, that gave birth to a market where none had existed before. In subsequent years, she has had the chance to reshape both of these brands to reflect today’s changing culture.
After a short break from the hotel industry to lead the design and development of NeueHouse, her focus remains on reimagining experience based on evolving guest needs, finding new ways to impact the business of design at Marriott and occasionally helping with a new brand launch (Like Apartments by Marriott), the completion of flagship hotels like the Marriott Bethesda Downtown, or the newly minted Westin Washington DC Downtown.
Aliya holds degrees in both Architecture and Industrial Design from the Pratt Institute. A true global nomad – when not on a plane, Aliya resides in her eighth city, Washington D.C.
