Betsy O’Rourke is Chief Marketing Officer for Xanterra and oversees the company’s revenue management, reservations, advertising, public relations, websites/e-commerce, CRM, regional sales offices, in short all commercial-related functions across hotels, tour and cruise brands. In addition to working with each brand to achieve their revenue growth goals, she drives the cross-brand and enterprise-wide marketing.
For more than 25 years, O’Rourke has enjoyed a successful career in the travel and tourism industry as a marketing professional, creating award-winning campaigns and launching innovative partnerships and promotions for numerous brands. Prior to joining Xanterra, she was Senior Vice President of Marketing at Royal Caribbean International, where she led the global marketing team responsible for sourcing four million guests per year on 22 ships. She led the launch of the new ships, Oasis and Allure of the Seas as well as the design of the new Quantum class ships. She was responsible for global partnerships and successfully negotiated two new important global strategic alliances with DreamWorks and Starbucks. She also led the digital, social and CRM evolution for the brand, and successfully redesigned and relaunched the Crown & Anchor loyalty program.
Prior to her role at Royal Caribbean International, O’Rourke served as SVP Marketing and Communications at Wyndham Worldwide. While at Wyndham she led the expansion of the Women on Their Way program across all businesses, as well as the expansion of the original hotel loyalty program across all brands. She also led the creation of the philanthropy platform for the company and each business unit, Wishes by Wyndham. Before Wyndham Worldwide, O’Rourke was the SVP of Marketing and Communications for the US Travel Association, creating a cooperative marketing program supported by all segments of the travel industry promoting travel to and within the USA which served as the model for Brand USA.
In addition, O’Rourke was the General Manager of International Pow Wow, the largest United States travel trade show for international inbound travel. A graduate of UC Berkeley, O’Rourke spent many years living abroad and speaks French and Italian. She is married with two children.
