Altimeter

Brad is the Founder and CEO of Altimeter, a life-cycle technology investment firm based in Silicon Valley that manages public and private portfolios. Brad has worked in technology for 25 years – as a securities lawyer; a founding principal at the venture firm General Catalyst; as a three-time co-founder where he raised significant venture funding and sold all three businesses (to IAC, Google and Marchex); and as a Portfolio Manager for PAR Capital. He was born in Indiana, studied at Wabash College, Oxford University, Indiana University School of Law and Harvard Business School. He has personally participated in more than 100 IPOs as a sponsor, anchor and investor. Brad’s notable deals include Snowflake, Mongo, Cockroach, Bytedance, Gusto, Unity, Okta, dbt, Modern Treasury, EPIC Games, Orbitz, Hotel Tonight and Zillow (while at PAR Capital).

Brad is also a former deputy secretary of state of Indiana and a pilot.  The Altimeter name emanated from Brad’s belief that clarity, happiness and success in all aspects of life comes from boiling it down to the essential – your core instrument. Altimeter’s mission is its core instrument: to help visionary entrepreneurs build iconic companies, disrupt markets and improve lives through all stages of growth.

Philanthropy
Brad funds Give Forward, a family foundation that is helping to lead the school turnaround in East Palo Alto as well as poverty relief in the Bay Area.
Brad is also co-founder of The Board Challenge, which is focused on making corporate boards more diverse by adding Black board members. Since September 2021, over 75 organizations have taken the pledge to add a Black director to their board, or if they already had at least one Black director, to support continued efforts for change.
A decade ago, Brad helped to start, and was a founding investor of, Noticeability, an organization with the mission to develop inclusive curriculum and pedagogies that level the neurological diversity playing field.
He is also a champion for Invest America, a proposed initiative to invest in our future generations by giving every child an investment account at birth that will grow as they do to create greater lifelong financial literacy and economic opportunity.
