Sidharth started Treebo in 2015 after identifying a huge, untapped opportunity in the affordable travel space. India was on a long-term path of steep growth, which was improving per capita income, moving over a 100 million people into the middle and upper-middle income segments, and hence creating unprecedented tailwinds for the travel industry, which was set to benefit from the discretionary spending of this great Indian middle class. And yet, all popular hotel brands were focused on the upscale or luxury segments. THV was conceptualised as the first hotel company truly focused on affordable, high-quality hospitality.

Over the last 10 years, THV has used cutting edge technology and a clean-sheet, innovative operating model to create a dominant position in the affordable segment. With comprehensive hospitality tech solutions including property management system, quality control system, reservations systems, guest facing tools, and a lot more, developed in-house under the umbrella brand of ‘Hotel Superhero’, THV is as much a tech company as it is a hotel company.

THV operates in the price range of Rs 1,000-6,000 per night and captures different sub-segments within this range through multiple brands - ‘Itsy Hotels’, an economy brand for the budget conscious traveller, ‘Treebo’ and ‘Treebo Premium’, premium economy brands, for those seeking reliable comfort at an affordable price, and ‘Medalio’ and ‘Medalio Boutique’, mid-market brands, for the upwardly mobile travellers seeking affordable luxury. THV has also forged an industry-defining partnership with Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) under which it has become the master franchisee of a path-breaking new brand created by RHG for the mid-market segment, ‘Park Inn & Suites by Radisson’. The two companies have committed to developing 150+ hotels under this partnership.

Sidharth is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee and IIM Bangalore. Prior to starting THV, he worked at McKinsey & Company. This engineering and general management background has helped Sidharth bring a fresh perspective to this industry and create a set of successful hotel brands in a space that other companies in the past had to abandon due to its inherent challenges.
