Skift’s Middle East Travel Roundup Reveals Several New Travel Trends

Skift Asia Editor Peden Doma Bhutia’s latest Middle East Travel Roundup says many new trends emerged for Middle Eastern and African nations in Mastercard’s new Travel Industry Trends 2023 report.

Travelers are seeking out experiences and memorable cultural exposure rather than the purchase of material goods on trips. They are also going to lesser-known destinations, thanks to increased social media influence. Peden also reports that Middle Eastern travelers are staying closer to home for trips, as Egypt and Saudi Arabia joined the United Arab Emirates in the report’s top 10 destinations list for the first time (alongside India, the UK, the U.S., France, Germany, Canada, and Italy).
