Jason Birnbaum is the Chief Information Officer at United Airlines. He oversees the technology strategy and roadmap for United’s digital capabilities, which include infrastructure, digital customer experience, and tools for its 96,000+ employees. Under his leadership, United’s technology team developed an award-winning mobile app known for its user-friendly interface, personalization, and accessibility. He also facilitated the seamless introduction of mobile devices to United’s frontline employees, providing them with in-the-moment access to operational and customer service applications. He has transformed and modernized many of United’s core platforms, making the airline a technology leader in the industry.
Jason is passionate about expanding access to technology jobs through workforce development. In 2023, he launched United’s Innovate technology apprentice program to provide technology training and career opportunities. He also serves on the board of i.c.stars, a non-profit dedicated to the same cause with a focus on underserved communities.
Before joining United Airlines, Birnbaum was Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of SIRVA Inc. and Chief Information Officer for GE Health Care Global Supply Chain and GE Industrial Europe. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Missouri and an MBA from the University of Illinois.
